They Said She’ll Never Do It. She Proved Them Wrong.

Neither harsh religion nor the devil could keep her away. What’s keeping you?

These bi-weekly posts have been a lot of fun. Sitting, thinking, praying, writing and hitting “send” with the hope they’ll be a help in your walk with Jesus. It’s worth the effort and so are you.

I’ve learned to never underestimate a woman! Men would rather enter burning buildings or join the military than face the prospect of childbirth! We couldn’t handle it, I’d cry, God knows! 😅

If you’re a woman, you know I’m right. If you’re a guy, you do too, admit it. We’re not that tough!

I’ve watched with admiration the grit and determination of many incredible women in my circle. As hard as life gets, as hard as the devil tries, and even some harsh religion just won’t stop them.

At Calvary, Jesus revealed the inestimable worth of those created after God’s image and how to face difficulty with dignity. Women seem more determined than men to get to Him no matter what.

In Luke 13:10-17, a woman decided to show up against incredible odds determined to let nothing and no one keep her from the better life she knew was possible with Jesus. She’s inspirational.

She shows us that no matter how long we live in a bad situation, and how long the list of legitimate excuses, nothing can limit the person ready to lift themselves up to get help from Jesus (10-13).

(14-15) Though Jesus wasn’t welcomed in her “church” the toxicity and traditions of the spiritually insensitive didn’t keep Jesus from meeting her there! No one can keep you from Christ, but you.

(16). Even the devil induced difficulties designed to keep her bowed down, impotent, and isolated from God didn’t keep her away. The devil’s devices and distractions shouldn’t keep us away either.

Reread her story. Bad situation, church frustration, spiritual opposition meets a woman with grit willing to get up and show up in person even when it’s hard. And today it pays off in a big way!

Oh, how I admire this woman. Eighteen years, all kinds of excuses, nothing stopped her.

(13, 17). When you don’t get much from church and can’t do much for yourself or others, just keep getting up and showing up. You’ll get the help you need, and Jesus will get the glory He deserves.

So what can you do? Start by listing the reasons you can’t, won’t, or don’t, and the hard things you’d do instead of what seems like childbirth.

Maybe it’s time to get some grit, get up, show up and let no one or nothing stop you. Jesus will be waiting for you when you do.
