Before jumping in, you’ll get more out of this post if you read 1 Cor. 2:9-16 first.
When I was in school training for the ministry, I was raising a family, the owner of a full-time business with several employees, while involved in ministry and leadership roles at church.
Four evenings a week I was also in class learning the Bible. I was overwhelmed! But it was an amazing time of spiritual growth because I was taught exceptionally well.
But in some ways it felt a little like I was living someone else’s faith.
There were times when I was regurgitating what I was taught because I lacked the time, experience and additional perspectives to ensure my beliefs aligned with Scripture.
I’ve come to believe that Christian regurgitation is a thing and not really a good thing.
You hear the sermon, podcast, or check your feed and repeat what you heard because you liked what they said or how they said it.
But then someone else you hear believes differently.
Some just put their own spin on Scripture. And why so many denominations and non-denominations? Should we just repeat what we’re taught or find out for ourselves?
They all claim, “it’s what the Bible teaches” and “you just need to believe the Bible”!
But they can’t all be true.
Have you ever been asked at work or by a neighbor, “Hey, you’re a Christian, what does the Bible say about…” while bringing up that hot topic in the news or culture war?
Did you find yourself regurgitating or realizing that maybe you didn’t have a good answer and even had similar questions yourself?
Everyone has an opinion about something in the Bible. How do you decide who’s right?
Too much is at stake to just go along with what we were taught. We’ll give account to God for what we choose to believe not what we were told or taught to believe.
That’s a little intimidating and regurgitating leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
In 1 Cor. 2:9-16 God gave us something to make the Bible come alive, easier to read, more enjoyable than ever and understandable. And it’s simpler than you might think.
When you spend more time in God’s word and know the principles behind properly reading it, you’ll enjoy it more and grow spiritually like never before.
That’s why this month I’ve decided to host ten free live online Bible Reading Made Easier webinars. These will help you understand your Bible better in one hour.
In each of the free 60-minute live events we’ll cover:
How to quickly lose the frustration and intimidation that discourages Bible reading.
Three core principles that immediately bring better understanding to what you’re reading.
Five Bible reading mistakes most readers make and how to avoid them.
Removing four obvious barriers to comprehension that we run into.
How to instantly gain context to build confidence in what to do with what you’re reading.
Some foundational facts about the Bible you really need to know to understand it better.
Live Q & A and a whole bunch of fun.
I love helping others fall in love with the Bible. This free one-hour event will help you do just that. I’ll do my part, you just need to show up! Pick your event time and register now.
You’ll leave after one hour with more confidence and comprehension and have some fun in the process. Space is limited for each event but there’s plenty of room so go ahead and invite a friend.
The same material will be covered but won’t feel like it since they’re all live. You’re welcome to join more than one. Register today: Bible Reading Made Easier webinar!
