At my age, you miss certain things. But one thing I never seem to miss is hunger. I notice it every time. I exercise, eat real food, and stay at a healthy weight.
But wow, I really love to eat. It just happens. I don’t have to try to be hungry. Maybe you can relate? I want the craving satisfied.
Every week I meet with some men. We’re praying for more believers around us to get “hungry” for the things of God.
It’s not that there aren’t people hungry for God. There are. But why aren’t more believers hungrier and motivated to seek Jesus at a deeper level of commitment?
It’s not new. Paul longed to be around people who understood Jesus more deeply and hungered to be in greater service or availability to Him. He found some.
And Paul’s effectiveness, it was rooted in prayerfulness for fruitfulness (v. 9-14). His hunger motivated him (v. 15-23), and look where he ended up (3:14)! Craving does that!
But many aren’t and it’s concerning. They’re snacking on things that ruin spiritual hunger and therefore have no appetite or energy for the good things of God.
Others are distracted (Eccl. 7:29) or find the wrong stuff more enjoyable (Pro. 19:15).
Would God allow a hunger problem to cause an awakening before it’s too late (8:11-12)? I like how Isaiah said it (v. 1-3). And this has me thinking (Deut 8:3)!
Have you seen what Jesus said at the end of v. 13? How much more!
The body of Christ is craving revival, hungry to see souls saved, lives changed, God using our giftedness in greater capacity and getting more glory. But when will it happen?
It seems to me that when you’re “hungry” for God to work in and around you nothing will stop you from seeking Him (63:1, 42:1). The craving drives you to seek satisfaction.
This old hymn sums it up! (Make sure you read those words 🙂)
So, are you snacking or distracted? Let this be the nudge you need to get with others who are hungry for God and striving to get that craving satisfied.
Like I said, I never miss hunger. And by God’s grace I won’t stop being hungry.
Hungry for God to get more glory, more believers to serve, more souls saved, lives changed, revival, and fruit from my life. God, give us more people who are hungry!
Who do you know who’s hungry? Forward this email and invite them to study it with you in person or online. You’ll find a lot more in the GO DEEPER section below. Stay hungry.

If You Would Like to GO DEEPER with Today’s Message:
What are some ways to find others who are hungry for God and the things of God?
As you look at these, invite God into your thoughts for ways to implement them:
- Make sure you’re hungry yourself (Psalm 42:1, 63:1).
- Join a small group at your church (or a bible-believing church) and invite others to go hard after God with you (Heb 10:23-25).
- Join a biblically sound online community (Take this survey to show your interest in the groups BibleViews2Use is forming right now so you don’t miss out).
- Invite God to use you in specific ways and make yourself available (Isa. 6:8).
- Talk to God like you (and those around you) need reviving (Psa. 85:6).
- Fasting will help you stay hungry and those around you (Isa. 58:6-12).
- Go to your local church prayer meeting and pray for a burden to serve, reach others, see God move, or use you again if it’s been awhile… (Jer. 29:10-14).
- Side note: It was at a weekly Tuesday prayer meeting that several others and I begged God to use us. Many ended up in various ministry capacities. Stay hungry!
- Ask God to put those who are hungry in your path and in your fellowship (Lk 11:9-13). Note the urgency (v. 5-8). Keep asking, seeking and knocking (importunity).
- Get a handful of friends together regularly to pray with a burden for boldness and to see God move in significant ways (Acts 4:21-32).
- Stay hungry for more of God’s word with the desire of a little babe (1 Pet 2:1-3), but also as one who’s growing and in need of meat (Heb 5:11-14, Psa. 34:10).
- Learn what spiritual gifts you have and begin to exercise them (Join and serve in gift-aligned ministries in your church or community Eph. 4:8-12).
- Up your level of bible study, time in God’s word and prayer (Deut 4:29).
- Get around and allow others more mature or gifted spiritually to mentor (disciple) you and yield to their suggestions (2 Tim. 2:2, Phil. 4:9).
These are more than enough to get you well on your way. Hungry people eventually find a source that satisfies.
I’m praying you are being encouraged and strengthened by this newsletter and invite you into deeper community here at BibleViews2Use.

TRIVIA QUESTION:
This chapter in the Old Testament likens the bread from heaven to how we should seek after God’s word. (Give it a try and send your reply. You might get a shoutout in the next newsletter. Happy digging!
