Enjoy today’s read!

Before jumping in, you’ll get more out of this post if you rea John 9:24-41 first.

Five lanes of traffic, bumper to bumper and moving fast is not my kind of driving. No GPS and a tight schedule just made me grip the wheel a little tighter.

Each lane was crowed, exits on both sides of the highway, construction barriers and rush hour traffic is a lot for any driver.

Especially when your day is just getting started and you are in an unfamiliar city.

With so much going on inside and outside the car, I was trying to avoid becoming the poster child for distracted driving while also not missing the sign.

Listening for directions and searching for an exit with cars darting in and out at a high rate of speed was going about as expected.

“You missed it”.

“I thought I saw it, but…”

Frightening and frustrating words!

That moment felt terrifying and consequential. I thought I read the signs correctly but missed it altogether.

We all knew that the day was going to be a little more challenging and we didn’t have the margin needed to make it a pleasant experience.

Life with no space or silence between the busyness can distract and even blind us to what’s most important.

We think we see it, but…

Jesus has some terrifying words for those who think they see, and for those who miss it altogether John 9:39-41.

You think it’s all good and you got this while gripping the wheel tighter.

But you don’t have GPS for your life. But you have a smart phone beside you, an inbox filling up, social feeds to check, texts and more options than you can manage.

But the off-ramp isn’t clear.

And there’s also all those obligations and ambitions...

…and the baby’s crying, the kids are misbehaving, your spouse or walk with God has grown distant and your spiritual life is less than fulfilling.

And when you read your Bible, there’s so much going on you miss what God had for you and read right past it.

What matters most now in the relationship gets missed because you’re distracted by all the other stuff happening.

You blow right past the exit to a great opportunity because you were too busy looking the other way.

God gives us signs that we’re missing what’s important or where we’re supposed to be.

Peter said it plainly in 2 Pet 1:8-9.

Pulling off that crowded highway at the next exit forced me to stop, sit in the discomfort, gain my bearings and get a better grip on what I’m doing so I wouldn’t miss another sign.

So, here’s my question for you:

What is it that you think you see but Jesus would say you’ve missed and Peter would plainly say is too much like the old you and not where you could be in Christ? Reply and share it with me. I’d love to hear your story. I read every response.
