Some things are just better. They are. And you learn this by experience – yours and others – but it’s usually better to learn from theirs. They’ve already been there and know.
God uses people throughout Scripture to point to better things He doesn’t want believers to miss out on. Many don’t even know they exist or haven’t experienced them.
You can do better!
Here are some “better things” God has for believers who will believe and embrace them:
1. Psa. 63:1-3. The lovingkindness of God is better. David said this in a very dry time in his life out in the wilderness. If you’ve been wandering, God’s waiting and better.
2. Psa. 69:29-32. Thanksgiving is better. Even when you are stressed, strained, and your circumstances are hard… your sacrifice of thanksgiving points others to Jesus.
3. Psa. 118:8-9. Do you have “trust issues”? It is better to trust in the Lord and you can!
4. Eccl. 4:6. Life gets loud chasing dreams and constantly on devices. Quietness with little is better than loud with a lot. Maybe it’s time to tone it down or turn it off.
5. Eccl. 7:1. What will they say at your funeral? Fix it now, a good name is better.
6. Eccl. 7:2-4. The funeral is better than feasting. It forces you to stop and sober up.
7. Eccl. 7:5. Who you follow and listen to matters. Friends are good, rebuke is better. Get around people with real life experience who will tell you what you need to hear.
8. Eccl. 9:18. One sinner, one selfish or self-centered person, can destroy much good. I’ve seen it happen and so have you. Wisdom is better; you’ll find it in God’s word.
9. Pro. 15:16-17. You don’t need so much stuff to find satisfaction. Declutter, downsize and remember that little is better, especially when mixed with righteousness (16:8).
10. Pro. 16:17-20. God’s opinion is the only one that matters. Be honest about who you really are. Humility is better. So is self-control (v. 32) and integrity (19:1).
11. Mk. 9:42-47. Jesus said, it’s better not to offend others, especially the little ones. He also said you better take your sin more seriously. I think He means it!
12. Phil. 1:21-23. Paul gave up a lot when he found that Jesus is better than life. He is.
You just won’t have a better life until you put Christ at the center of it. He’s better.
It’s helpful to remember that even if you live for Christ and choose the better way, hard things happen to those who love the Lord.
Live for Him anyway. You also have His promise of a better resurrection (Heb. 11:35-40). Okay, this one is really challenging, and God meant every word of it.
Some things are just better. But you’ll have to believe that or you’ll miss out. Take it from those who’ve been down the road.
If I could start over, I’d do it better. How about you?
If you’re not sure about this, reach out here and let’s make time to talk about some better things for you.
Who can you forward this too and encourage? You can give them some better things too. You can make it even better by joining us as we study it together this Monday. You in?
We’ll be studying today’s post together @ the online study on Monday. It’s free, engaging and will draw you closer to God and others. Request your Zoom link to join us.

FREE ONLINE BIBLE STUDY
Join us Mondays as we discuss one of the weekly posts. It’s a great time of fellowship and growth, but don’t take my word for it! 👇🏼
“I just wanted to reach out and say thank you. Monday’s Bible Study was truly impactful. Our discussion on the Great Commission, along with Aquila and Priscilla’s interaction with Apollos in Acts 18, was especially meaningful. We reflected on how they lovingly and respectfully corrected Apollos when he was teaching from an incomplete understanding of Jesus and the gospel.
After receiving that correction, Apollos moved forward boldly, spreading the gospel far and wide. This discussion encouraged me and helped strengthen my confidence in sharing the gospel with others. I also walked away with a valuable three-point framework for sharing my personal testimony.
Steve, I am deeply grateful for you and appreciate your obedience as a disciple in faithfully teaching and sharing the gospel.”

GO DEEPER & Get More Out of Today’s Read:
Go back and read the highlighted verses from today’s read. As you go, ask yourself:
Does my behavior reflect a belief that this statement about “better” is true?
How has my life experiences proven that this better thing is true?
What might I have to adjust so that my life reflects my belief that this is better?
Take some time as you read each one and talk to God about it. Ask Him to show you where you can do better in each of these areas of your life. Write them down.
Who can you share and/or discuss this with so that they can do better before they end up saying, I wish I could go back and do better? Forward it to them and set up a time to discuss it.
