Then He Stepped In
This probably hasn’t happened on a walk with a man, but it happened to her

You’ve heard it and have probably said it. You’re at a restaurant, at a family gathering or maybe out for a walk and overhear an argument with a good ole, “what’s your issue”!?
This probably hasn’t happened to you, but it happened to Jesus. He was walking with a man and suddenly surrounded. And more than one had an issue.
Like you and me at times in our life, it’s a serious issue – a twelve-year issue – and while it continues there’s turmoil and a draining of our resources that leaves us exhausted.
So, what’s draining the life out of you? Her issue was blood. What’s yours?
You know, it can be a relational issue that lingers but is draining. The arguments, distrust, and doubts that just won’t go away.
Maybe it’s an emotional issue. Anger, depression, bitterness, envy… stuff like that.
Some struggle with a life-controlling issue like substance abuse, an addiction, or porn.
For others, it’s grief that won’t go away, or thoughts that spin in their head but never get resolved.
Add yours here ____.
That man walking with Jesus had sickness in the family, you know a family issue.
When the problem is draining the life out of you, and your resources with it, Jesus was always the best option, but maybe you’ve been waiting.
That woman with the “issue”, she did the one thing we all need to do – it’s found in one of my favorite expressions in all the Bible, right here!
That man that was walking with Jesus, his issue went away when he took that walk with Jesus. And what about that woman? She too was made whole!
I know that God! Do you?
Okay, so why do we wait?! What does “touching the hem of His garment” look like? It’s:
Moving toward Jesus instead of pulling back or keeping your distance
Not letting others gathered around Jesus keep you from pushing in close
Reaching out to God in humility and bowing down when it’s uncomfortable. I love this verse in Psa. 102. Then look at what He and the Holy Spirit will do!
Believing Jesus can help, even if no one else does. You advocate for yourself before God and act!
It’s making your move toward Jesus without delay. Even if it’s been a long time!
You know that old expression that if you keep doing what you’ve been doing you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting?
Both people in Mark made their move toward Jesus. And when they did, He stepped in.
Let your issue drive you to Jesus so He can intervene. And when He does, you’ll never be the same. You don’t have to wait until you’re exhausted or your resources are gone.
Jesus probably won’t handle your issue like He did theirs, but He sure can handle it. So, what are you waiting for? Take that issue to Jesus. It’s your move now.

GO DEEPER with Today’s Read:
What is it that you have been struggling with for a long time and no one and nothing seems to help. Now you’re drained. Write it down.
If you could set aside your ego, excuses, and whatever is keeping you from bringing it to God, and approach Jesus with it, what do you think He would say?
Go back and read the interaction between that woman with the issue and Jesus (Mark 5:25-34). How might that interaction look like if you were that woman?
You can “interrupt” Jesus any time with your issue. Think deeply about why you wait. It is fear, exhaustion, doubt, procrastination…? Identify it, then reach out to Jesus anyway.
Touch the Hem of His Garment right now in prayer and talk to God about whatever the issue is and whatever is keeping you from giving it to Jesus.
Here’s some other things you can do to deepen your walk with Jesus1:
